Aztec is a privacy-focused Layer2 on Ethereum built on the PLONK proving system and its own Noir language, serving users and developers who need confidential balances, counterparties and strategies onchain. It addresses the pain point that public chains record everything by default, exposing balances, counterparties and strategies, whereas Aztec uses zero-knowledge proofs to let smart contracts verify validity without revealing inputs, enabling auditable yet private onchain finance.
