Crust Networkについて
Crust Network is a Polkadot ecosystem decentralized storage network launched in 2020, positioned as an incentive layer for IPFS. The problem it addresses is that IPFS nodes offer no guarantee of retention: a file pinned to a node disappears when that node goes offline, and storage providers cannot prove they actually hold the data. Crust runs storage workloads inside trusted execution environments, where an in-node sWorker signs files and submits workload reports that the chain uses to release CRU rewards.
Its consensus combines MPoW, a meaningful proof of work that attests to local storage behavior, with GPoS, where a rotating validator set produces blocks. To discipline providers, the protocol requires nodes to post CRU as on-chain guarantee bonds for storage orders, slashing the stake when an order is violated. Users and providers match through an order market specifying replica count, duration, and price. Crust joined Kusama as the Crust Shadow parachain and launched its mainnet in September 2021, making it one of the earliest storage-focused parachain projects in the Polkadot ecosystem.
