In 2026 Ocean Protocol's centre of gravity moved from data marketplaces to decentralised data and AI compute infrastructure. A review updated on 24 September showed Ocean Network still in beta, with its dashboard recording roughly 16,200 compute jobs, 559 service sessions and about USD 36,500 in combined job and service revenue, while the reference Ocean Market listed 32 assets and 14 orders.
Predictoor data farming now pays USD 500 a week in USDC through 2026. In October 2026 Fetch.ai and the Ocean Protocol Foundation sought to settle a dispute over roughly 286 million FET tied to the merger, the year's most closely watched development.
Future strategy and roadmap: Ocean Protocol centers on decentralized data and AI compute infrastructure, next moving Ocean Network from testnet toward larger-scale paid compute. The team uses Ocean Nodes, MCP and Orchestrator to serve AI inference and privacy-preserving compute, with Compute-to-Data letting data participate without leaving its domain. The goal is to grow independent-node participation past 2 million and lift real paid usage of compute tasks and service sessions, while after clarifying the Fetch.ai dispute it rebuilds token and ecosystem-incentive links and restores the OCEAN-FET bridge usability.
