TEN is a privacy-focused layer 2 on Ethereum, formerly Obscuro, that executes encrypted contracts inside trusted execution environments: transactions, contract state and selected logic are decrypted and run in hardware enclaves, and results are posted to Ethereum with remote attestation while data availability and finality remain with layer 1. Consensus uses Proof of Block Inclusion, where validators bid for the right to include a block and stake TEN; developers mark functions for encryption at a granular level while public parts stay composable with ordinary EVM contracts.
It targets order book trading, sealed-bid auctions, onchain gaming and AI agents, cases where intermediate state cannot be public: encrypted execution keeps market maker quotes and model prompts out of the public mempool and removes front-running MEV. The privacy guarantee rests on Intel SGX attestation and side-channel defenses; if an enclave is broken the network degrades to a transparent chain, so confidentiality depends on trusting the hardware vendor, and its application count and locked value remain below mainstream layer 2s.

In 2026 the team narrowed its pitch to compute in confidence: sensitive contract functions run inside TEEs while results and commitments settle on Ethereum. Published roadmaps place the encrypted mainnet and zkBridge interoperability in the third quarter of 2026.
