Thales

Thales is an on-chain markets protocol spun out of the Synthetix ecosystem offering two kinds of prediction products: positional markets that bet on crypto price ranges at a fixed strike and expiry, and parimutuel markets that pool stakes and pay winners proportionally. Positions are ERC-20 tokens that can be transferred on secondary markets or plugged into other DeFi applications, settlement is triggered by Chainlink oracle price feeds, collateral spans sUSD, USDC, DAI and USDT, and deployments cover Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon and Base. Its sports direction runs under the Overtime brand, Speed Markets serve short-dated high-frequency up-or-down bets, and the protocol applies a discount of up to 10% on the underbought side to balance AMM exposure.

THALES is the governance token: staking grants voting weight used in the six-month Thales Council elections and votes on protocol improvement proposals. As a Synthetix-lineage protocol, its positioning is closer to composable DeFi infrastructure than a mass-market consumer app: market creation is controlled by the protocol and council, liquidity and event coverage vary by chain, and industry reviews routinely contrast it with consumer-grade prediction markets such as Polymarket, highlighting its composability-oriented path.
