Witnetについて
Witnet is a layer-one chain designed specifically for oracles, advanced since 2017 from Madrid, Spain and Delaware, United States. The network runs its own proof-of-stake consensus in which nodes stake tokens to earn the right to fetch information from external sources, verify it and deliver results to callers, facing slashing when they deviate.
Its workflow is summarised as retrieve, attest and deliver: a requester describes data sources, aggregation and error handling in the RADON scripting language, and the chain settles on the majority result. On the cross-chain side it supports EVM networks and several layer-two networks, where smart contracts can read aggregated data points directly. The Wit/2 upgrade completed in March 2025 reworked the consensus and incentive layers to unify how data requests are verified and settled.
Per official documentation, total supply reached 1.558 billion WIT in November 2025, with 800 million minted since genesis and 2.72 million burned through slashing of validators that diverged from the witness majority; circulating supply was about 802 million in September 2026, with data feeds on more than 28 chains.
Witnet will keep pushing permissionless custom data sources and on-chain verifiable queries, sell pay-per-request oracles to L2s and enterprises, and rely on slashing and burns to sustain the staking economy.
