Gearについて
Gear is a WebAssembly smart-contract protocol built by former Parity and Substrate core developers, with its main network Vara producing blocks under nominated proof of stake and programs running on the actor model: each program keeps its own persistent memory and communicates with others only through asynchronous messages, so execution can be queued in parallel and suits state-isolated, high-frequency workloads. Developers write in Rust, gas is priced in VARA and can be prepaid with vouchers, letting users call programs without holding the native coin first.
It positions itself as an execution environment closer to an operating system, dividing labour with the EVM's account and shared-storage model: games, social apps and zero-knowledge workloads that need parallel handling and message queues fit Vara, while general DeFi stays on EVM chains. The stack spans the Vara mainnet, the Gear execution layer and a coprocessor path for Ethereum, with nodes runnable on ordinary machines and validators sharing block rewards and staking yield with nominators.
