OP NETについて
OP NET is a smart contract meta-protocol on Bitcoin layer one, not a layer two, sidechain or bridge. It writes contract bytecode into Bitcoin transactions through Taproot script paths and executes deterministically in a WebAssembly virtual machine; every interaction is a native Bitcoin transaction paying fees in bitcoin with no wrapped assets, supported by a token standard plus swap and staking contracts. The pain point is that Bitcoin holders entering decentralised finance usually need wrapping, bridging or custody, each layer adding counterparty risk.
Mainnet activated on 19 March 2026 together with the token standard, swaps and staking farms. On 1 July researchers disclosed a critical flaw in an approval function of the token standard that could set allowances to maximum and move entire balances without the victim signing or interacting, affecting every token and liquidity receipt on mainnet, and the team patched it silently that day.
