0x is a DEX infrastructure protocol that established the off-chain matching, on-chain settlement paradigm and aggregates fragmented liquidity through the Matcha aggregator and developer-facing Swap and Cross-Chain APIs. Liquidity is scattered across dozens of chains and countless venues that ordinary apps cannot uniformly access, so 0x collects intents in off-chain order books, settles on-chain and folds more than 12 bridges into a single routing interface, letting Coinbase, Robinhood, MetaMask and Phantom swap inside their apps. Matching decouples order routing, price discovery and cross-chain messaging, with revenue from API calls and routing fees.
In June 2026 the cross-chain API opened to all developers and extended to AI agents and Solana; but protocol value stays decoupled from the ZRX token, delistings of its spot pairs have hurt liquidity depth, and in routing it must fight 1inch while competing with Jupiter on non-EVM chains.

On June 4, 2026 0x's Cross-Chain API left private beta and opened generally, aggregating 12 bridges including Circle, LayerZero and Stargate with a median bridge time of about 10 seconds and 99.97% uptime, switching providers automatically when one degrades. On June 23 the Swap API opened to AI agents on a pay-per-request basis at $0.01 in USDC via the x402 standard and Alchemy AgentPay, with no API key required.
On September 18 more than $5 billion had been processed through the Swap API on Robinhood Chain, and by September 22 cumulative settlement on Polygon passed $20 billion. In January a flaw in the third-party SwapNet routing contract cost 20 Matcha Meta users $13.4 million, all of whom had manually disabled one-time approvals, while 0x core contracts were untouched; integrators were subsequently required to support granular approvals. HyperEVM went live through the API in March alongside a Dune Enterprise partnership; Phemex delisted the ZRX/USDT spot pair on September 11, with the token near $0.08 in early August and range-bound between $0.07 and $0.11, still without a fee share.
Future strategy and roadmap: The new component of the 0x stack teased on August 3 has not been revealed; what is scheduled is moving the Swap API on Solana from open beta to general availability and extending to Monad, routing Ondo tokenized stocks, Centrifuge's deSPXA and deJAAA, and Solana Token2022 extensions through the same path, while letting integrators set their own fees and split them across multiple recipients in one transaction. On the token side the community keeps pushing a protocol fee switch so ZRX shares routing revenue rather than serving only as a governance asset.

0x's Standard plan is priced at $1,000 per month and takes a 0.15% on-chain transaction fee per swap; integrators can set swapFeeBps of 0–1000 bps (0–10%) as an affiliate fee and capture trade surplus on custom plans.
