DigiByteについて
DigiByte is a long-running public chain launched in 2014 that uses an unspent transaction output model and five mining algorithms, positioned for fast, low-cost payments and utility. Short block times and low fees suit small transfers and content tipping. In 2026 it launched a decentralized stablecoin minted against DGB collateral, activated through a soft fork, and added agent payment support and new signature schemes to bring programmability to a payment-focused chain.
It addresses the lack of a fresh narrative and adoption for older chains, where low fees alone no longer attract users squeezed by stablecoins and Layer 2 networks. Issuing a collateralised stablecoin is an attempt to turn the native asset into a usable unit of account. Activity in 2026 was dense: a mainnet release in June, stablecoin activation in mid-July, a node startup fix in August with more than 50 million coins locked, and a listing on one exchange, while stablecoin liquidity remains only tens of thousands of dollars.

DigiByte activated DigiDollar on July 17, 2026 at block height 23,869,440 via a BIP9 soft fork — the world's first truly decentralized stablecoin on a UTXO blockchain, letting users time-lock DGB as over-collateralized backing to mint. By August 6, over 50 million DGB had been locked with a network collateralization ratio near 365%. The x402 Agent Payments upgrade, live by July 19, lets AI agents make automatic payments and notarize outputs on-chain. The v9.26.5 release on July 23 fixed a DigiDollar oracle startup stall and buried the Taproot, DigiDollar, and AlgoLock soft forks via BIP90.
