Alephiumについて
Alephium is a sharded Layer 1 developed in Switzerland, using the BlockFlow algorithm to combine the UTXO model with stateful smart contracts, with proof-of-less-work consensus, a hybrid of proof-of-work and proof-of-stake, plus the Ralph language and the sVM execution environment, aiming to complete sharded scaling within a single chain without sacrificing decentralization. ALPH is used for gas and staking, and the ecosystem hosts decentralized exchanges, lending and liquid staking applications, with the VM layer keeping the UTXO security model while supporting stateful contracts.
Two events in 2026 define its current position: in May an attacker who compromised guardian keys stole roughly 815,000 US dollars from the Ethereum bridge along with unbacked wALPH minting, while the L1 consensus was unaffected; on September 23 the Powfi mainnet went live, introducing a CLMM decentralized exchange and xALPH liquid staking. In an architecture where the bridge and mainnet are separated, the guardian multi-signature is the weakest link of the whole ecosystem.
Major setback: In May, the Alephium TokenBridge on Ethereum was exploited: the attacker compromised 3 of 4 guardian keys, stole about $815K in assets and minted over 13.75M unbacked wALPH; guardians later burned 13.257M wALPH, stolen funds remain unrecovered, and the L1 consensus was unaffected.
Milestones: On September 23, Powfi launched on mainnet with a CLMM DEX and xALPH liquid staking; a share of protocol fees will buy back ALPH, split 50% burned and 50% to stakers, alongside liquidity farming and staking incentive campaigns.
On January 14, 2026 at 10:00 UTC, the Alephium mainnet activated full node v4.3.0, changing the difficulty adjustment algorithm to improve robustness; nodes had to upgrade in advance to stay in consensus without interruption. v4.5.1 followed in April, fixing a defect related to groupless addresses.
In the first half of 2026 the team shifted focus to security hardening and tooling modernization ahead of mainnet deployment: the Web3 SDK was unified at v3.0.2, the Powfi SDK was prepared for open sourcing, in-wallet liquid staking in the mobile wallet entered review, a reward distribution contract for xALPH stakers was developed in parallel, and the Alphland page was wired to live ecosystem token prices.
Future strategy and roadmap: Alephium will keep advancing the Core dApp and native staking around its PoLW consensus, sharding and sUTXO model, extend its compliance-friendly PoW positioning into DeFi and RWA scenarios, and fill out ecosystem applications through grant programs.
